Overview
TextInLevels Reader helps language learners read real web content at a level that fits them. This policy explains what information we use, why we use it, and how it supports the extension and website.
Information we collect
- Account information such as your user ID and email address when you sign in.
- Saved words and dictionary entries you choose to store in your account.
- Usage records such as article URL, reading level, character count, and credits used to process an article.
- Feedback you submit about generated article versions.
- Local extension data stored in your browser, such as session data and reader settings.
How information is used
- To sign you in and keep your account available across sessions
- To convert articles into beginner, intermediate, and advanced versions
- To generate learning features such as keywords and quizzes
- To save words, manage credits, and support account features
- To remember reader settings stored locally in your browser
- To troubleshoot issues, prevent abuse, and improve product reliability
Article processing and AI
When you ask TextInLevels Reader to adapt an article, the article text is sent to our server and to AI providers used to rewrite the article and generate learning features such as keywords and quizzes. We use that information only to provide the feature you requested.
We also keep usage metadata such as the article URL, selected reading level, character count, and credits used so the product can operate correctly.
AI voices
AI voice playback is generated locally in your browser using downloaded voice and model assets. Based on the current product design, article text used for AI voice playback is not sent to our backend to generate speech.
Payments
If you buy credits, checkout is handled by Polar. We may share limited billing information, such as your user ID and email address, so checkout and purchase fulfillment can work. We do not store your full payment card details ourselves.
Third-party services
We rely on third-party providers for services such as authentication, hosting, AI processing, and payments. Those providers may process information according to their own privacy terms and policies.
Data storage and your choices
Some information is stored in your browser, and some is stored on our backend to support account features such as saved words, credits, and feedback. You can stop using the extension at any time, remove the extension from your browser, and delete saved words inside the product where supported.
